DIY Modern House With Popsicle Sticks and Bamboo Toothpicks

Materials That You’ll Need:
– Popsicle sticks (2 x 15 cm)
– Popsicle sticks (1 x 11.5 cm)
– Bamboo toothpicks
– Printed layout or sketch of the house
– Hot glue
– Super glue
– White formica sheets
– Pruning shears (to cut sticks)
– Craft knife
– Square wooden sticks
– Masking tape

1. Prepare a white formica sheet (17 x 32 cm) as below

   Cut the wooden sticks lengthwise to get narrower strips (about 0.5 cm wide). Glue these strips around the edges as a border.
   
   

2. Cover the surface of the formica sheet with popsicle sticks (2 x 15 cm)

   *Tips: Remember to cut both rounded ends of the sticks before processing.
   
   

3. Now you’ve finished the base sheet. Mark the length of the house as below.
   

   

4. Join two wooden sticks at a 90-degree angle then attach them to each corner of the house.
   

   

5. Attach the house’s walls

   Attach two wooden sticks horizontally inside the structure to stabilize the frame. Then, cover the frame with wooden sticks on the outside to form the walls.
   *Tips: Remember to make room for doors and windows
   
   

6. Glue bamboo toothpicks on the inside to create doors and window frames

   

7. The first floor will look like this!

   

8. Coat the entire surface of the model with sealant or specialized wood paint.

   After finishing the structure, apply a layer of protective wood paint or sealant. This specialized coating helps prevent termites, mold, and moisture damage, ensuring the model lasts longer.
   
   

9. Create a rectangular base using wooden sticks to serve as the foundation.

   
   

10. Start assembling popsicle sticks to create the second floor panel

    
    

11. Make the gable walls

    *Tips: Use masking tape to temporarily hold the sticks in place before gluing.
    
    

12. Cut a triangular shape along the marked line

    
    

13. Secure the panel with popsicle sticks on the inside

    
    

14. Use a craft knife to cut out the window frame on the wooden panel

    
    

15. Add more details to the window frame with bamboo toothpicks

    
    

16. It will look like this on the outside. Create 3 similar panels by following the steps.

    
    

17. Attach the gable walls to the second floor.
